To Where You Are

Papa,

It has been three months now since you left us. I still find it hard to believe. I guess you can say that I am in denial. A part of me still refuses to admit that you are no longer here. A part of me keeps hoping that you will return to us. That I will here your voice again, see you again. I layed in bed this morning and listened to my dad talked to mama on the phone and I sat there and wait for him to say " Juan Torres" like he always did when he talked to you. I waited to hear him laughing with you as you joked around with him on the phone. I wait for mami to talk to you but it never happened because you are no longer here. I had no choice but to get up and get ready for your mass, We have been going to mass every month since you have passed sometimes it is easier then others. I don't know if it would ever stop hurting.

Ay Papa why did you leave us? Can't you see that we still need you? Who I am going to go and milk the cows with? Eat oranges with? Your no longer here to do those things with me and I don't want to do them without you.

Give A Little Bit Of Your Heart.

So we all know that I am a big advocate for Breast Cancer awareness and Research. At work I asked my co-workers and the parents in my program to save the pink Yoplait yogurt lids so that I could send them in. They looked at me like I was crazy and asked me why. I told them about my aunt's battle with breast cancer and the promise I made her. This was weeks ago. I did not think anyone remember that. Boy was I wrong.

Today as the parents where coming in one of the mom's stopped me and handed me an envelope. I looked at her in surprise and she looked at me and said "Open it". I did and there staring back at me where 26 pink yogurt lids. She had gone home and collected all these lid. "Para tu tia" she told me. I was some how able to thank her and when I looked up, I saw a line of parent all of them with envelopes in their hands. Each envelope held pink yogurt lid, all of the lids were collect " para mi tia" I could not speak, I was overwhelmed with emotion and all I could do was nod and whisper "gracias" as an other parent handed me an envelope.

Oh goodness here I am tearing up as I write this. It was just beautiful. I cant even express how much that meant to me. As I sit here now I wish I would have taken a picture of it to send to mi tia so she could have seen how complete strangers did something so beautiful in her honor.

Yesterday Nataly, Nataly's Mom, Magarita and I participated in the 14th annual Race for the Cure. Denver's Race for the Cure is the largest in the nation. 65,000 people came out on a cold and cloudy Sunday morning for a good cause. Like the last time I was there it was an amazing experience. It still ranks as one of the best experiences in my life. I am glad that Nataly and my aunts were able to come with me this year. A few of my family members have already told me that next year they are going to going as well.

I took my camera with me because Nat and I are going to make an album for my aunt and send it to her.

Nataly's Mom, Nataly and Magarita before the race.

The view behind us.

The reason why Denver is number one for the last three years.

Nataly and Me during the race.

The coolest fairy's I have ever seen.

That sign is the reason why I do this.

Two In One

Yeah it's on of those post. The first one is kind of serious the second one is no where near it.

To Change The World:

In 2003 I walked in the Susan G Komen: Race For The Cure and it was one of the best experiance in my life. I have always said that I was going to do it again and this year I finally am. I guessed I talked about it sooooo much that this year Nataly and a few of our aunts and cousins will be joining me. Yay! I am excited. Nataly and I are walking in our aunts honor.

If right now you are thinking " Hey that sounds cool I might what to do that." Well guess what you are in luck. You still have time to sign up in a lot of major cities.

Go here to see when the Race will be in your town.

Also the Breast Cancer Site is trying to fund 500 FREE mammograms and all you have to do to help is go to their site and click on the big pink button on their main page, that's it.

Also just a quick reminder to stop by Caro's blog to support her. She is running in the 9th Annual L.A. Cancer Challenge which benefits the Hirshberg Foundation For Pancreatic Cancer Research in honor of our grandfather. Which will happen on October 29.

Thanks

Needed: Your Suggestions:

So as a few of you already know that I am working on Part 6 of El Papi Chulo List, and as I was putting the list together I thought I should ask you guys for some suggestions. So tell me who do you think should be on El Papi Chulo List? Leave your suggestions in the comment section and then check back in a few weeks to see if your guy made it on the list.
